Sweat it out and reach an endorphin high in Raffles Place

Got cabin fever? This list is good for what ails you.

With the end of the circuit breaker, gyms are back in semi-full swing.

Give your accumulated calories some burn with proper equipment, training guidance, and ample space.

Within Raffles Place Precinct, many of our neighbours specialise in helping you sweat, so drop by one of them for a quick workout and energy boost.

COVID-19 still exists, so remember to adhere to your facility’s capacity quota when visiting and keep a safe distance from others at all times.

Well-equipped for a variety of fitness activities, it is also crowned with a stunning new design.

But what is the use of all that equipment if you can’t measure your returns comprehensively? This gym stood out with a clever measuring tool named the Boditrax.

It sets the baseline measurements like fat and muscle mass, visceral fat and your metabolic age. You set your goal and measure after every session. An app helps you keep track of your progress.

Barry’s

If your fitness rallying cry is in the same vein as “hustle for that muscle”, you will be in good company at Barry’s.

Billed as an all-in (HIIT) high-intensity interval group training gym, it has all the hallmarks of spartan-like punishment. The goal? To grind your body to its limits in a communal setting, led by an instructor and somewhat kinky red lighting.

Each day of the week is focused on a specific part of the body, so you will always have something new to be sore about.

Anthem

If HIIT is your thing, but you prefer to push the pedal, Anthem could well be your new battle hymn.

Think Soulcycle, but right here in the heart of Singapore’s business district. It combines throbbing music and an energised class to set your heart pounding and your muscles achy.

You can be assured that once you are back in office, you would be riding on an exercise high for hours.

Focus

Fluidity in movement is a rare blessing. Aches and pain are a hindrance.

But in corporate work, after hours of sitting at a desk, a tinge in the back or the neck is almost a certainty.  So this studio must have got its audience understanding down-pat.

Focus’ philosophy integrates Pilates and physiotherapy to help you reach your mobility goals. It sounds pretty good scientifically to us. Pick a group class, a private session or a virtual instruction, and get moving.

Beatx

Founded by two ex-Singapore national swimmers, Beatx seems to have distilled the essence of Olympian fitness training methods for the layman.

The philosophy behind its sports-science-based regime is to shock the body with unpredictable routines and intensity–with structured workouts from boxing, indoor cycling to an eclectic no-holds-bar circuit course named ‘the battleground’.

If you crave burning calories in an environment imbued with a futuristic dystopian vibe, this would be an interesting visit.
